God's Roadmap

Now may the Lord Jesus Christ and our Father God, who loved us and in his wonderful grace gave us eternal comfort and a beautiful hope that cannot fail, encourage your hearts and inspire you with strength to always do and speak what is good and beautiful in his eyes (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 TPT).

What has happened to a biblical worldview?

by Barbara Latta
The number of people with a biblical worldview has declined.

Social media is buzzing about the recent transgression of CNN’s Kathy Griffin. The deplorable act of holding up a bloodied effigy of President Trump can only be taken as a threat to his life. Many others in despair over the presidential election have taken similar actions with slurs and outrageous signs. Thankfully, enough viewers spoke up and she was removed from their lineup.  But she is already crying “victim” as if she were the one being attacked. Political correctness at its best.

The outrage spanning the country is fueled by people of influence on the liberal side. While there are those who would spout their protests on their own, the majority are recruited in an attempt to usurp the influence of the office of President.
Social media buzzes about Kathy Griffin.

Unrest in England continues with the latest terrorist attack in Manchester. I heard a speaker on the radio a few days ago stating that it is a crime in England to evangelize a Muslim. Really? That country is being blown to bits by Islam but the government is too afraid to withstand the terrorists. Someone might get offended. Ask the families of those who lost loved ones in Manchester how offended they are now.

The division in our country and around the world is an effect of the human heart’s fallen condition. Even many who call themselves believers have turned away from the purity of the truth of God’s Word and mixed their belief systems with the secular world. All we have to do is read headlines to see the impact of falling away from truth.

Barna[i] research has revealed the results of a poll conducted in all 50 states among Americans over the age of 18. The results of this survey reveal only 17% of adults who claim they are Christian and attend church regularly have a biblical worldview.

Barna defines "biblical worldview" as believing that absolute moral truth exists; the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches; Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic; a person cannot earn their way into Heaven by trying to be good or do good works; Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth; and God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe today.

These numbers expound on the reasons for all the unrest and violence we are facing as a nation and as a world. Each generation has gotten further away from God’s teaching and has been influenced by the world system. Hearts have not been changed therefore behavior has not altered.

We are responsible for what we believe. If our beliefs are wrong, we cannot blame anyone else. God's Word clearly admonishes us to remain untainted by the world by renewing our mind to what He says.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God  (Romans 12:2)

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ (Colossians 2:8).
Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Standing true to the Word of God will bring persecution in this world filled with the spirit of anti-Christ but the rewards we receive far outweigh the negative aspects thrown at us. It is up to each individual to decide how to navigate this curve of unbelief in the world.

I pray for Kathy Griffin and others like her. Their actions are a result of being lost. As we shine our lights in the darkness, the way is illuminated so that others may see the way to Christ. Only then can worldviews be changed.

In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

Share your thoughts.

  1. What Kathy Griffin did was truly unsettling...no doubt about it. While it incites a reaction from me, I have to remember that she is operating through a lost mindset. She is a soul that needs Jesus. While my heart breaks that all these awful things are taking place around us, I'm reminded that our Lord is coming back soon and all these things must come to pass. Praying for us all.

    1. Amen to that. The behavior we see in the world causing division and violence is a result of being lost and we need to pray and share the gospel with them. Thanks for sharing.
