There’s an old song that states, “What the world needs now
is love, sweet love.” The truth is the world doesn’t just need love now; the
world has always needed love.
The political fireballs burning now spit sparks across the
land. Opinions fly based on which news cast was watched. We can debate these happenings without a
solution until the blaze burns hotter because governments can’t transform a
person’s heart.
While programs and laws can help bring temporary change,
only the Lord God Almighty, who created the heavens, the earth, and humanity
has the answer.
And the answer is repentance and humility toward Him. Violence
stems from hatred, and hatred is born from a soul that is separated from God.
We throw the word love around like it’s a catch phrase for
all kinds of feelings. We love our families, our dog, chocolate, or our car.
Each of these have a different attachment to our lives, but we reference them
with the same word.
What is real love?
God’s kind of love is true love, not the Valentine’s Day emotion. His
pure love is the sacrifice of His own sinless Son to pay for our sinful lives. Only
if heaven’s love is accepted will healing and peace transpire for America and
for the world.
God has been maligned, cursed, ignored, accused of doing
wrong, and thrown out of government, education, and courtrooms. But this is
nothing new. The same thing happened when He walked the earth as Jesus Christ.
What the world needs now is love. But too many think they
don’t need this love, they just need themselves and their opinions, their side
of the story, their so-called tolerance. There is no acknowledgement for the
need for a Savior, or that they are sinners.
Maybe they don’t want Jesus because He is viewed as a weak, wimpy,
powerless prophet. We can thank the entertainment industry and Middle Ages
European art for painting that picture.
And sadly, in some cases churches and ministries haven’t
displayed the power of the love of Christ to the world either. Scandal and
fraud tell the unbelieving population that Christians are no different than
they are. But this behavior is not true Christianity.
Somehow submitting to the Creator of the world, who
sacrificed His own Son to save mankind, is looked upon as a weakness. Well,
in ourselves we are weak. That’s why we need Him. That means everyone—the rich,
the powerful, the political, the rulers, and the little people.
All will stand before Him someday and the positions and
possessions won’t matter. Religion won’t matter. Buddha, Mohammed, Hare
Krishna, New Age, Universalism, and all the other ism’s can’t save a person
because religion doesn’t take away sin. There’s a vacuum inside every human
being that can only be filled by the Spirit of God.
There is a day coming when free choice will be taken away,
and judgment will be applied to the whole earth. Violence, lack of concern over
human life, immorality, and selfishness are indicators of the last days.
It all boils down to what did you do with Jesus? Either He
was accepted or rejected. That’s what will be judged.
The world is in a mess because of refusing to live in the
love of Christ.
This verse is quoted frequently because it is needed so
much. “If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and
pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14
NKJV)
Notice it says MY people who are called by MY name. That
means believers. But those who are not called by His name also need to seek His
face, then they can be His people. Romans 3:23 states, “For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God.”
What the world needs now is love. Only if heaven’s love is
accepted will healing and peace transpire for America and for the world.
And I must ask myself if I have portrayed the true image of
God to those I encounter. I pray for Him to help me be the ambassador of Christ
that will show everyone who He really is.
