God's Roadmap

Now may the Lord Jesus Christ and our Father God, who loved us and in his wonderful grace gave us eternal comfort and a beautiful hope that cannot fail, encourage your hearts and inspire you with strength to always do and speak what is good and beautiful in his eyes (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 TPT).

7 Ways to Receive Wisdom From God

7 Ways to Receive Wisdom From God

by Barbara Latta

Who doesn’t want wisdom? Life is full of hurdles and without spiritual guidance we can trip and fall into emotional holes. Hearing from God is essential to living a successful life.

When we are connected to the Supreme Ruler of the universe, the counsel needed to navigate circumstances is made available. But it is up to us to discover what God has given us.

We do this through a resolve to never give up and continue to seek knowledge of Him.

God has an assignment for us no matter how we advance in age. We always need to hear from Him because our purpose in life never ends. The more we listen to the Spirit, the more we can expand His kingdom.

I have found when I implement these 7 ways to receive wisdom from God I am less likely to use the retaliation of the tongue, the impulsiveness of a quick decision, and I am more open to learn from godly advice of others.

  1. Make time with the Father a priority. We may have good intentions, but our busy lives can interfere without our awareness. A determined effort will be required to focus time with our heavenly Father before we consider our to-do list, email, or social media.
  2. Be available. Presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice and renewing our minds in His Word puts us in a position to hear from Him. (Romans 12:1-2). A worship mindset will take the focus off self.
  3. Leave the past behind. We can’t move forward when we live in the past and dwell on mistakes and sins. This hinders our ability to hear what God is saying now (Philippians 3:13-14).
  4. Ask for revelation knowledge. (Colossians 1:9-10). He will give us understanding when we ask for it.
  5. Believe we receive our answer when we pray. Make sure prayers line up with His will and are not selfish (James 1:5-8).
  6. Pray in the Spirit (Romans 8:26-27). Many times in scripture praying in the Spirit is associated with praying in tongues. When the Spirit of God is praying from our spirit to God the Father, our mind is bypassed, and our reasoning cannot get in the way.
  7. Let peace be the guide (Colossians 3:15). When trying to make a decision, test the options with which one gives peace in the soul. When God is directing, there will be peace and not anxiety or confusion.

When we learn to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit, we are equipped to fulfill our purpose. Titus 2:3-5 NKJV tells us, “that the older women be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things—that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.”

When we as older women are steadfast in our spiritual lives we are blessed, and we reflect godly examples to younger generations about seeking wisdom from God’s holy Word.
