God's Roadmap

Now may the Lord Jesus Christ and our Father God, who loved us and in his wonderful grace gave us eternal comfort and a beautiful hope that cannot fail, encourage your hearts and inspire you with strength to always do and speak what is good and beautiful in his eyes (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 TPT).

Give the Gift of Reading

by Barbara Latta

Christmas is just around the corner and our thoughts turn to giving. If anyone on your list is a reader, I have some great suggestions for giving the gift of reading. These books will bless the recipients over and over because books never grow old.

Christmas Spirit published by Grace Publishing is their latest Christmas compilation. Join me and 32 other authors as we share memories of Christmas’s past and the meaning behind them.

Christmas is about Jesus and not our gifts. My contribution to this anthology tells of a holiday when plans went awry. I discovered ways to still emphasize Jesus’ birth without disappointing my boys due to the possibility of an empty tree on Christmas morning.

Jesus is our true and only gift. When we focus on Him, we find out that our material possessions don’t have the value we sometimes place on them.

This book will make a wonderful presentation for a friend and for yourself. You will be encouraged through these stories of hope, faith, and love.

What better offering can we give someone than to present them with ways to stay healthy? Katherine Pasour's book, Honoring God with My Body, shows us how to make better choices in food and activity. The difference in this book and many other health inspired tomes is she blends these recommendations with Scripture so we know we are following God's outline to thrive in life.

Parents can always use a way to get the Word of God into kid's lives. Julie Lavender's Children's Bible Stories for Bedtime can give little ones peace of mind as they fall asleep learning about God's love. The stories are simple enough for children to understand but still contain the meat of the gospel message.

For fiction lovers check out DiAnn Mill's latest novel, Concrete Evidence.  This FBI suspense story sprinkled with a touch of romance will take you on an adventure through the Brazos area of Texas, dodging bullets, hurricane winds, and the slanderous threat against a long standing reputation. You will stay intrigued as you flip the pages to unravel the mystery of who is innocent or guilty.

Holidays are busy with more than usual activities. We can learn to thrive in the chaos of life no matter what time of year we are in. Unruffled: Thriving in Chaos by Edie Melson and Rhonda Rhea will guide you through peaceful ways to face stress and unexpected moments in life. A great gift for those who find difficulty letting go of worry and frustration.

Lighthouse Bible Studies latest collection is For Love's Sake. What better time to read about love than at Christmas when we focus on the greatest love ever bestowed upon mankind--Jesus! I also contributed to this compilation with an article comparing the story of Boaz and Ruth with the love of our Savior toward us. These stories and devotions will warm your heart and bring to mind the passion of God for His creation.

You can also honor any of these authors by leaving a review on Amazon after you purchase their books.

Blessings and happy reading!

Please feel free to leave your thoughts and share about other books that would make wonderful contributions to the lives of people you know.
